A Jobscan alternative that doesn't keyword-stuff

ATS checkers score keyword density against a posting. HireForge is a hiring-fit score for job seekers: paste the job description, get a factor breakdown, and do not invent resume facts. Fit estimate, not a guarantee.

Jobscan is the name people use for paste-the-posting, get-a-match-percent. That percent is mostly keyword overlap. Useful as a spellcheck for missing words. It is not a hiring-fit score, and stuffing the JD back into the resume will move it.

HireForge is a hiring-fit score for job seekers (not a recruiter ranking tool, and not hireforge.ai). Upload your resume, paste the job description, and get a factor breakdown: qualification match, screening odds, competitive edge, company and role fit, credentials, timeline. A job URL is optional. LinkedIn, Indeed, and Glassdoor block URL fetch, so paste the posting. The number is a structured estimate of evidenced fit against that job. It is not a guarantee of an interview or an offer.

What a keyword match percent cannot see

  • Whether you did the work, or only named the tool.
  • Whether the posting's hard gates (platform, tenure, clearance, degree) are actually evidenced.
  • Whether two jobs that share buzzwords are the same job.
  • Invented bullets. We do not generate experience you did not list.

Same resume, two postings

Illustrative HireForge run (not a live API call). Same simulated resume against a matching posting and a stretch posting. A keyword checker can look similar on both if the same words appear. The factor breakdown moves when the work does not match. That is the point.

Simulated resume — Generalist IC (cross-vertical demo)

Same mid-career profile scored twice: once against a posting that matches evidenced skills, once against a stretch role with missing stack.

Hiring score

Role that matches the resume

Example Co.

76%

Factor breakdown

  • Qualification Match81%
  • Screening Odds74%
  • Competitive Edge66%
  • Company & Role Fit78%
  • Credential Hurdles85%
  • Timeline Feasibility82%

High overlap → high score. Breakdown still shows what to polish.

Strengths

  • Core skills evidenced
  • Keywords align for first screens

Gaps / risks

  • Edge skills still improvable

Hiring score

Stretch role with missing stack

Example Co.

44%

Factor breakdown

  • Qualification Match44%
  • Screening Odds40%
  • Competitive Edge38%
  • Company & Role Fit42%
  • Credential Hurdles70%
  • Timeline Feasibility48%

Low score is useful: it names the gaps before you spend a weekend on the application.

Strengths

  • Transferable fundamentals remain

Gaps / risks

  • Named requirements lack evidence
  • Seniority / stack gap is visible

Overall hiring score, match vs stretch

  • Example Co.: Role that matches the resume76%
  • Example Co.: Stretch role with missing stack44%
Weighted overall from the six-factor rubric (same math as in-product).

What this is not

  • Not a promise you will get screened in.
  • Not a Jobscan clone with a nicer chart.
  • Not a hiring-team product. If you need to rank a pile of CVs, this is the wrong tool.
